IX EUROPEAN CINEMA AWARD “UNIVERSIDAD DE SEVILLA” 2016
RULES
1. PARTICIPANTS
Participation in this competition is open to all those students currently enrolled in any European university for studies leading to an official university degree, and to all those persons who concluded these studies in the year 2007-2008 or later, in any of these universities.
Under the agreement with the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Sevilla, its students and graduates will be able to participate in equal conditions to those of the University of Seville.
Each participant can present just one project, in which s/he will appear, of necessity, as director or producer of same.
Any person who won in previous editions of the competition is excluded.
2. SHORT FILM PROJECTS
Each participant can present one short film project, fiction or non-fiction (understood as being a film of a duration of less than 20 minutes).
The project must include the following documents, all of them in electronic format (doc, rtf, odt or pdf ; no other kind of format is accepted):
1. SCRIPT (INCLUDING STORY BOARD)
2. SYNOPSIS (max. one page)
3. SHOOTING PLAN (including schedule)
4. DETAILED BUDGET
5. FINANCING PLAN
6. DIRECTOR’S CV
7. TECHNICAL CREW’S CV
8. PROPOSED CAST
9. PROPOSED LOCATIONS
3. PRESENTATION OF PROJECTS
The projects must be presented, necessarily, on an electronic medium (doc, rtf, odt or pdf format; no other kind of format is accepted),necessarily through this web link. An application on paper will not be accepted nor any application through the general registry of the University of Seville.
The deadline will begin from the moment of publication of this announcement and will end at 0.00 on the 30th day of September 2016.
The application will state expressly that the applicants are the authors of the project, and that they have all the rights of intellectual property, and that they accept the commitment of making the short film and the cession of rights of exhibition referred to in the fifth paragraph.
Once the award has been granted and communicated, the winners are obliged to present a photocopy of their I.D. or passport, and to justify their condition as a student or as a graduate in the period 2007-2008 or subsequently, in accordance with rule 1.
4. PRIZES
A single prize of 3.000€ is to be delivered. (Before taxes)
The Prize payment will be charged to the organic/functional/economic application 18.40.60.01 – 422D – 482 of the University of Seville budget for 2016. The legally defined tax amount will then be withdrawn.
5. SHORT FILM SHOOTING
EXHIBITION AT THE SEVILLE EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL AND AT THE CICUS CULTURAL PROGRAM
The winner will:
Shoot the short film presented as a project.
Include, on the film credits, the logos supplied by both institutions -University of Seville and Seville European Film Festival- as well as the sentence: IX Premio Europeo de Cine Universidad de Sevilla de proyectos de cortometraje.
Authorise the screening at the Seville European Film Festival, in its 2017 edition, and/or at the Center of Cultural Initiatives of the University of Seville (CICUS).
To this end, all exhibition and copy rights will be transferred.
6. JURY
The head of jury will be he General Director of Culture and Patrimony, by delegation of the University Rector. The jury will be composed of cinema experts, upon proposal of both CICUS and Sevilla European Film Festival. It will award the prizes, after evaluating the technical and artistic quality of the Project, as well as the consistency of the budget and the funding plan.
The jury has the right to declare the prize void, as well as, if it considers it appropriate, to award a second prize, this one without an economic reward.
The decision of the jury is final.
7. LANGUAGE
All candidates living in Spain, as well as students or graduates of any Spanish university, should submit every document related to this call in Spanish.
Candidates from other European countries who are also students or graduates from a non-Spanish university are allowed to submit their documentation in Spanish or English.
8. ACCESSIBILITY FOR HEARING IMPAIRED
Regardless of the language of the film, the project and its budget should include the captioning or subtitling of the film, at least, in Spanish.
