“METAMORFOSIS 2.0”

Metamorfosis 2.0 talks about how every living thing needs to create a system of evolution and a series of changes that allow a safe adaptation for their survival. These processes appear as answers to the constant alterations of the environment in which said species lives. Through this work, the artist proposes a metaphor of their own life experience.

This performance emerges as a necessity to expose the process of adaptation of every living thing. In addition, it rises in relation with images and movements of the flora and fauna of the territories in which the artist has lived until today, being influenced by the environment that surrounds him.

Gero Domínguez & Nuria Estébanez: El Primer Círculo
EL PRIMER CÍRCULO
(Premiere on Sevilla. Nominated for Best Street Performance, 10th Premios Lorca awards)

The rotatory platform is the first circle, it is limbo. The limbo is the beginning of circulation through a space of loss without an apparent direction, a no man’s land. From this ground zero, a path divided in different stages commences:

Stillness. Movement passes without us realising, there is another tempo and perspective. It places us without knowing too well where. We do not see further than ourselves.

Loss. After obstruction. We look for something, not sure what we will find. Shifts of perspectives, axis, other spaces in other bodies.

Support. We need support to go on, to not get lost or to not go wrong in the search.

New beginning. By glimpsing the end of a phase, the next one begins.

It is a cyclical process. Looking up will change our perspective.

Our instrument to show it is our body. Working with two corporal languages, the flamenco and contemporary dance, where contact is the nexus between them.

“CLINCH”

Men touch each other with blows. An energetic duo about masculine construction. A deconstruction of the contemporary virile behaviour, acclaimed by some and questioned by many. CLINCH in boxing is the moment in which the two boxers hug and block each other until the referee separates them. This movement is about getting as close as possible to your rival to protect yourself from their attack. CLINCH exposes the most toxic masculinity, established in the competition, the denial and the confrontation to all that is different. Furthermore, the denial of feelings, excluding rage or fury, that must be demonstrated through the exercise of violence.
