III EUROPEAN CINEMA AWARD “UNIVERSIDAD DE SEVILLA” 2010


THE UNIVERSITY OF SEVILLE PROPOSAL FOR THE III EUROPEAN CINEMA AWARD “UNIVERSIDAD DE SEVILLA” 2010, FEATURING FICTION AND DOCUMENTARIES

1. Participants
Students enrolled in any European university for the academic year 2009-10 whose studies will lead to an official university degree and all those who have completed similar studies since the academic year 2001-02 or after may participate in this contest.

2. Theme
The theme of this year’s award will be “INTEGRATION”. All work submitted must adhere to this theme whether in fictional or documentary form.

3. Requirements
The films must be produced in DVD format and have a maximum duration of 20 minutes.
The menu will offer subtitles in Spanish, at the very least, and subtitles in the language used in the production for hearing impaired viewers. However, students who are living in other European countries and who are not current students or graduates of a Spanish university must subtitle the film in either Spanish or English.
Participants must submit five copies of their projects in DVD format.

4. Application for participation
Applications for participation, managed by Mr. Rector, can be submitted after the announcement of this public call on Friday 15th of October 2010, in the form which will be provided in CICUS web page (http://www.cicus.us.es). Application for participation should state that the applicants are the authors of the works, and that they are unabridged to their rights for intellectual property.

5.Awards
An award is established in two payments of
€ 2.500 euros each. Mentioned amount will be deducted by taxes provided by law.

6. Exhibition within the European Cinema Festival of Seville
In addition to giving awards to the two referred to in Article 5, the panel will select films to be shown in the third edition of the European Film Festival of Seville.
The writers of the selected films will receive the corresponding joint certification, issued by the University of Seville and the European Cinema Festival of Seville.

7. The Panel
A panel, chaired by the Director of CICUS by delegation of the Rector and made up of distinct personalities from the cinematographic world will award the corresponding prizes.
The jury may void awards and, if it deems appropriate, will grant a consolation prize without funding. The ruling of the Panel will take place within the third edition of the European Film Festival of Seville and will be final.

8. Use of the works by the University of Seville and the European Film Festival of Seville
The University of Seville and the European Film Festival of Seville will be able to show the chosen works within the Festival’s programme or within the University of Seville’s Centre of Cultural Incentives (CICUS), separately or as part of a competition that includes all or some of them before the end of the 2010/2011 course.
