CICUS JOINS IN THE EXPRESSION OF CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE ARTIST CHEMA COBO

The passing of Chema Cobo (Tarifa, Cadiz, 1952 – Malaga, 2023) is sad news for contemporary art and our university heritage. With the Nueva Figuración and la Movida Madrileña, Cobo opened up a new path and became a reference point to the current artists. His work will remain in our collection as a demonstration of the strong relationship that we shared. From May 24 to July 31, 2018 we held the exhibition El Clamor de las moscas (the outcry of the flies) in the room MMD in the Centre for Cultural Initiatives of the University of Seville (CICUS), consisting of a selection of drawings and sketches from the artist’s most intimate record. This exhibit was also open to visits in the Madrasa of Granada.
